Past, Present, Future – Reuse, Reduce, Recreate

Some bars aim for flawless. We aimed for honest. Materials with stories. Objects with scars. Beauty that comes from what lasts. That’s why so much of Blessing Shophouse began its life elsewhere.

The stools at the bar were once the owner and architect’s childhood chairs. Their octagonal stainless steel bases are a nod to protection in Chinese design with a modernist touch. The orb hanging above the counter may seem like a piece of modern art until you learn it’s a tribute to the owner’s grandmother and the sago dessert she served every New Year, the pearls standing for a smooth life.

Upstairs, you’ll find a bamboo garden behind glass that used to be in our old furniture antique shop, Royaltique, and a bar built from a century-old Chinese bed. Salvaged panels and repurposed steel hold the space together, proudly imperfect. Sustainability isn’t a buzzword for us. It’s a belief. What’s worth keeping can always find a new way to exist.

This isn’t just design. It’s philosophy. Reuse, reduce, recreate. Every piece, every detail carries intention, just like our cocktails. Flavors that have traveled centuries, reimagined for the present, ready to be carried into the future.
