Blessing Bats

At Blessing Shophouse, our story begins with a symbol: “The Bat.”
In Chinese, the word for bat (蝠) shares its sound with the word for blessing (福). Over time, that sound became a symbol, and that symbol became a belief.

At the heart of our identity lies the four-cornered bat, representing the Four Blessings long honored in Chinese tradition: happiness, success, long life, and good fortune.

For our logo, you may first see a plum blossom flower. But if you look another way, you’ll notice four bats revealed through a play of positive and negative space. And if you look even closer, there’s a small surprise. One little bat quietly breaks away from the top right corner, gently flying free. It’s a soft gesture of movement, a reminder that blessings aren’t fixed. They shift, they travel, and sometimes, they find their way to where they’re needed most.

Around the space, you’ll find more if you take your time. Some are tucked among plum blossoms, some hidden in shadow, others reflected in the folds of the marble behind the bar. They don’t draw attention to themselves. That’s the nature of real blessings. They don’t ask to be seen. They simply wait for the ones who are looking.

To us, the bats are more than decoration. They carry meaning. They remind us to slow down, to notice the quiet things, and to believe that even small details can hold big wishes. So when you visit, feel free to look again. You’re welcome to count the bats or not. Just know they’re here, gently watching over you, wishing you well.
